Photos in Emergency Medicine
These photos are presented here for the purpose of interest and education. Some of the photos are of patients that I have treated and others are from other sources. All photos were taken with the explicit consent of the patients or guardians. Every effort will be made to protect the identities of the patients involved.
This idea compliments of Dr. Bosche. It seems to work for the lawyers.
I recently stoped at this accident scene to see if I could be of any assistance. There were two occupants in the vehicle, a woman and her infant child. Even though the damage to the vehicle was impressive the injuries turned out to be relatively minor. Extrication and patient care was provided by the Florence Fire Dept. They did an excellent job. I ended up being strictly an observer until Aircare arrived.
 Cellulitis of lower extremity.
 Table saw injury.
Before and after repair of dog bite.
This can occasionally happen when you take small children fishing.

This photo is a little difficult to distinguish. What is seen is a large tumor in the oropharynx of a smoker who presented with the complaint of a sore throat.

This little one was injured in a house that was intentionally set on fire. A family member held her against her body as they ran from the house but she was still burned on one arm and her scalp. She was a favorite patient of the staff in the burn center and recovered completely.

This person was pretty sure he had stepped on something the night before he came to the Emergency Room. His wife was pleased to get her sewing needle back and he was glad to be rid of it.

This was a young man who attempted suicide via bb gun. This exceptionally slow learner shot 4 bb's into his left nostril and one into the right before he figured out that this was extraordinarilly painful but not likely to kill him.
